Arbinger Case Study: Horan and McConaty Funeral Home's
Horan & McConaty (H&M) was founded by John Horan, who believed that his funeral home’s most valuable asset was its strong reputation for providing highquality service to families of the deceased. Leveraging this reputation, H&M grew from two locations in 1986 to seven locations serving the entire Denver metro area.
I directed, shot and edited this case study for The Arbinger Institute.
Big Monocle became successful fast. They did it by focusing on the needs of their clients. But not only focusing on the needs of their clients but they took it one step further, they focused on the needs of their clients, clients.
Like most companies they needed to take what they learned as they grew and somehow bake it into the fabric of the company. That is when they found The Arbinger Institute. Arbinger was able to help them make understanding their clients, client needs part to what it means to work with Big Monocle.
Together with my Director, Mitch (Mitch's LinkedIn), a camera operator, Andrew (Andrew's LinkedIn), a sound designer, Sheldon and myself we spent two days getting to know Big Monocle and capturing their story. More importantly we captured the energy of Big Monocle here in this film.

The Christmas Truce 2014
Role: Editor, Director of Photography, Co-Director
I produced six short documentaries, with my director Taylor (Taylor's LinkedIn), that invited the viewers to think about the conflict’s in their life. The films invited the viewers to reexamine their conflict to see what impact those conflicts had on their life.
We planned the trip to travel to Belgium French border in order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Christmas truce in World War I.
The Reconciliation Project used the videos to launch a campaign to engage social media in order to drive awareness of conflict and how to work to end conflict.
Stopping sexual violence will be accomplished in our lifetime. Or at least I will try as hard as I can to stop it from happening.
I was approached by a friend to help make an Indiegogo campaign video. It was great to work on a project that is working to end the silence around sexual violence. The shoot consisted of myself behind the camera for both days. Then I was able to work with Honey to make the final edit come together for their crowdfunding campaign.
Honey was able to raise $10,000 for their project.

The crew was light on this trip. We had the Director, Michael (Michael's LinkedIn), a local camera operator, Branco (Branco's LinkedIn), and myself. We spent three days getting to know the company and capturing their stories.
The Arbinger Institute has helped many companies in the 30 years it has been around. But one of my favorites is Outfit7 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. There office is located in the top three floors of the tallest building in the country. High above you get a beautiful view of the city and the surrounding mountains.
Part of my work with The Arbinger Institute has been trying to capture what it is like to work for a company that views the relationships between their employee’s as one of their most valuable assets. Capturing those stories on film presents unique challenges.
Andrew Baker (Andrew's LinkedIn) worked on the first edit and got it 80% there and I came in and finished the edit.
What happens when a new President come into a company? How will they affect the culture of the company? What changes will they need to make? Will they conform to the way things were or will they try and push the company to new heights?
These are some of the questions that run through everyone’s mind when new president comes to a company. The Arbinger Institute was able to get the company moving in the same direction after the new President came to the company.
We shot it three different countries, Spain, England and Switzerland in order to capture three different perspectives to the same story. Most shoots with the exception of England it was me behind the camera with the director, Michael, asking most the questions.
